What skills will I learn?
This class is the essential next step from the Introduction to Sewing for those who have their own sewing machines, new or well loved! You will take your sewing to another level when you understand the function of the different feet which came with your machine, which foot to use, where, why and how! Sew like a pro!
You will learn about:
- The many different presser feet types available
- The right foot for the right job
- Pin tuck feet and using with twin needles
- Blind hemming
- Mastering the over edge foot for edge finishes
- Mastering the zipper foot
- Applique and embroidery feet
- The walking foot
- Many more tips and techniques
What will I make?
You will use the skills you have learned to make a portfolio of samples which will provide a great reference for your future sewing.
What do I need to bring?
Bring along your sewing machine in good working order with its manual and all accessories provided with it. Bring some plain fabrics if you have any for making your samples. You will need to bring a packed lunch or take the chance to pop into town for a snack. Tea and coffee will be provided.
How will I be taught?
The class will consist of discussion, tutor demonstrations of all the presser feet, and guidance with your particular machine. There will be plenty of time to make your own practice samples with help from the Tutor using all your feet (and trying out some of mine!) to build your individual reference guide. Classes are small with no more than five participants so you are guaranteed good quality tuition.
